Coiste Scoil Acla CCÉ has announced that the annual Summer School will once again, go virtual for 2021.
Cathaoirleach of Scoil Acla CCÉ, Sarah Calvey explained “Like many other festivals and organisations, we have been closely monitoring the situation over the past number of months in the hope that some semblance of normality would prevail, unfortunately, that will not be the case once again this summer.”
We feel, with due regard for public health advice, even by summer, the time would not be right to hold in-person events and tutorials.
Whilst obviously disappointing for many, this decision has been taken once again in the best interest of the health and safety of our voluntary staff, tutors, students and the wider Achill community.
“That said, Scoil Acla Beo 2021 promises to be a great week and we are looking forward to holding a number of virtual live and pre-recorded concerts and tutorials, and of course, our virtual Hata Acla competition – where we received entries from as far away as South Korea in 2020! Details of our full programme will be posted in due course on our website and on social media.”
Sarah Calvey concluded “the committee would once again like to thank our local partners, funding agencies, students, tutors, staff and volunteers for their understanding and continued support. We look forward to welcoming you all back to Achill in 2022 – we already have some exciting projects planned!”
