Local Classes 2022

Multi-Instrumental Classes are recommencing for Intermediate players with an interest in participating in the upcoming Fleadh Cheoil Mhaigh Eo.

The Fleadh Cheoil will take place in Achill on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th May 2022.

These classes will cater for children who are intermediate players (ie. can play a march/polka/jig/reel etc.) and can move at a faster pace than beginners.

The focus of the nine classes will be on two tunes to get students to the standard required for participation. The classes will have a mixture of instruments in each class. The classes will be held in Bullsmouth School and Community Centre from 7-8pm each Wednesday night.

Class sizes are reduced to ensure the safety of all and places are for students who are interested in becoming involved in Fleadh Cheoil Mhaigh Eo.

There is an under 10s competition as part of the Fleadh where each child is rewarded for their effort. Each participant receives a certificate and grows in confidence as a player from having this experience. There are also solo, duet and trio competitions at under 12 level where first, second and third place are awarded.

Term 1 Class Dates are:

Block A – 5 Classes

February 16th (Registration) & 23rd | March 2nd, 9th, 23rd

Block B – 4 Classes

March 30th | April 6th & 27th | May 4th

Please note: in order to attend classes and/or represent Scoil Acla at the Fleadh Cheoil students must be members of Scoil Acla CCÉ.

Registration will be taken on February 16th.

It is hoped that restrictions in schools will have eased or will be lifted by the commencement of Term 2 classes.

Classes during Term 2 will cater for all beginner and intermediate players. We hope to cater for all interested musicians in Term 2. We understand students are eager to get started and have missed out on so much in the last two years however with covid restrictions and sanitisation requirements at their current levels in schools we can not cater for everyone just yet.
