Coiste Scoil Acla is proud to announce that world-renowned accordion player, artist and composer Sharon Shannon will officially open the 2025 Scoil Acla Summer School with a special concert on Sunday, 27 July.
Hailing from Corofin, County Clare, Sharon Shannon is one of Ireland’s most celebrated traditional musicians. Her trailblazing work spans Irish trad, reggae, classical, Cajun, country and more. Over the years, she has performed and recorded with the likes of The Waterboys, Steve Earle, Jackson Browne, Christy Moore and many more, bringing her infectious energy and musical innovation to audiences worldwide.

Her presence continues a proud tradition at Scoil Acla of hosting the finest artists and cultural figures. She joins an illustrious group of musicians, performers and dignitaries who have helped mark key moments in our summer school’s history.”
The concert will launch a week-long celebration of Irish music, language and culture on Achill Island, as Scoil Acla marks its 40th anniversary.
Tickets for Sharon Shannon’s concert are on sale now for €40, including booking fee. Early booking is strongly advised as places are limited.
